Spring Rally 2009

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon on 21st March, 2009 when approximately 50 Comrades of Endeavour met for their Annual Spring Rally in Ravenhill Presbyterian Church Hall.
Mr. Leslie Scott opened the Meeting with prayer and a warm welcome to all. He gave a special welcome to the Irish C.E. President, Mrs. Carole Dillon who brought greetings on behalf of the Irish C.E. Union. He also thanked the visiting Speaker, the Revd. Victor Patterson from Immanuel Presbyterian Church, for agreeing to speak at the Rally.
After Chain Prayer, Leslie then introduced the new Comrades’ Convenor, Mrs. Barbara Lowry, who thanked Leslie for all his help in organizing the Rally.
The new Convenor realised that she had taken on a post which had been carried on so successfully, for many years, by the Revd. Jackson Buick, who sadly because of health problems, was no longer able to fill the post. She said that, with God’s help, she would strive to fulfil her duties.
Hill Street Presbyterian Senior C.E. Society were responsible for the musical item and rendered some verses of several well loved hymns used in C.E. down through the years – with a short explanation between each piece as to why they had been chosen. The pianist for this and for the Rally was Mrs. Dorothy Morrison.
Mrs. Olive Gardiner beautifully recited two of her own poems depicting the Easter scene of the cruel death and then the triumphant resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Mr. Patterson brought God’s message to us from Colossians chapter 3 and 4.
He urged us to live our lives in keeping with the Lord Jesus and to set our hearts on things above. In having a relationship with unbelievers, by speaking to God about people and then speaking to people about God – always being full of grace and of course being persistent in prayer.
After the closing hymn and prayer, the ladies of the host Church very kindly provided everyone with afternoon tea.
