FORMER PRESBYTERIAN MODERATOR TO SPEAK AT IRISH CONVENTION

Christian Endeavourers from throughout Ireland and further afield will be attending the 97th Irish National Christian Endeavour Convention, which will be held on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th September, in Dungannon Presbyterian Church.
There is general delight that the Revd. Dr. Stafford Carson has agreed to be the main Speaker. His theme will be,” R U BEING REAL”?
Everyone will be welcome at the evening Rallies on Friday at 8.00pm and Saturday at 7.30pm.
During the day on the Saturday, Seniors/Comrades, Young People/Young Adults and Juniors will enjoy their own activities in what will be an action packed weekend.
Dr Carson, who was born in Larne, was educated at Larne Grammar School, University of Ulster, Queen’s University Belfast and Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia.
Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland from June 2009 until June 2010 he has been Minister of First Portadown Presbyterian Church for the past six years. Prior to that, his charges included Kells and Eskylane Presbyterian Churches in Co. Antrim and Carnmoney Presbyterian Church in Newtownabbey.
From 2000 – 2005 he was Executive Vice President of Westminster Theological Seminary. Spare time is a rare commodity for this man but when he does manage to grab some, he is always delighted to be able to cheer on the Ulster Rugby Team. A keen keep-fit enthusiast, he joined other clerics, and ran in this year’s Belfast Marathon in support of Tear Fund.
Married to Patricia, they have three children, Sara, Luke and Ruth.
Endeavourers, and others, are keenly looking forward to the weekend’s activities.
